our story
The Legend of Islander began in 2017 when Islander founders, Phil and Syrene, set out on a journey: a mission to find the best Mozambiquan-style Peri-peri sauce that Mzansi has to offer because, well, spice is the spice of life.
In years past, this journey of spice-discovery has brought the couple many a padstal-excursion, a couple of ring-stings and a pantry stocked full of worthy contenders. However, their ultimate discovery was that, even South Africa’s finest peri-peri sauces, could not top the delectable garlicy tang of their own recipe.
Our protagonists had made a revolutionary discovery, which, they believed, was their duty to share with South Africa, allowing you to join the party. And so, Islander was born!
